Research topics in the works

So: yes, colors, flowers, food are in the works, in the design phase already.
In terms of looking for old/new visual material I am currently looking at architectural details in paintings & going more in-depth with Bonnard & Vuillard.
Their colorful yet soft blurred mysterious atmosphere appeals to me greatly right now.

Instant gratification, infatuation, love.

All the best things are 'instant', I believe. Meaning that you know right away (it takes less than 15 seconds, come on!) that you like-want-love it.
The same logic goes for the worst/bad things.
But as it is a productive Sunday afternoon full of joy as a researcher, here is a new (unknown to me)Degas, whose lady at a cafe' I fell in love with immediately.

Whatever impression you'll get, it will be instant, too, I bet!

Little green boots: rorschach test (of sorts)

"Looking past" the most evident details is not something that I love doing because it's ooooh so 'alternative', cool & groovy...I simply can't help me.
In the painting above my eyes always go (first thing) to check if the little green boots of the performer (after all, Folies Bergere was about performance, too - drinking helps to enjoy the rest) are still hanging in there.

Case in point: who is she?

Here's one of the faces/discoveries that made my day today.
A hint: how about a drink at Folies Bergere?

On teaching & learning: art educartion never ends

I am often asked why I quit teaching & my answer only makes perfect sense to those who have taught, too: I loved teaching, I was a creative teacher who managed to learn a lot from her students, but still, it wasn't enough.
I wanted to learn more & create much more.
But old habits die hard: so now that I am into something different, I can't abbandon art research (that is, always looking for new images, either totally ignored or just forgotten by me).
And the next step is my desire to share it with the others.
After all, one Pearlsboreme core ideas is that you can tell a story about what you wear...

It's the hormones: all I want is...

...Flowers (almost like in that old Bill Clinton joke).
I've never been color-shy but these days I am craving color. So my recent flower-obssession is well & alive.
Looking forward to intoxicating myself this week-end trying out some new sprays. Feel excited like a little child with a new toy. A child I never was.
Better late than never?

Alternative transport? Let's fly!

As a long-time ('long', really?) Chicago resident I am aware that the city's nickname - the 'windy city' - has nothing whatsoever to do with the actual wind, but it' been really windy these past couple of days. A true Chicago welcome for me.
So on top of reading about latest food trends (0 trans fats everywhere!!! I honestly wish to find anything, anything at all, that has some trans fats!) I wish we could get alternative transport the way I always wanted: flying.
I wanted a flying carpet when I was a little girl, then a private jet (as you grow older, your taste gets more sophisticated) & then I did skydiving and 'settled' for the simple pleasures of flying with your own wings...
Here are a couple of flying ladies brought to you by Goya.
And I am off soon to 'fly' along our beautiful Lake.
