One Hell of a blog!

oooooh I am so excited! How I wish I could start working on these pieces right now!

Give up clothes? No way

Was doing some research & found some images that illustrate well something I brought up this morning: salvation army, being a shopaholic, etc.
Renunciation of material goods is definitely not up my alley. But neither is shopping my religion. It's a way to express my personality.
P.S. attention to detail - notice the hand coming out of a cloud

Uncomfortably sexy?

I am a purist & a maniac with regard to many things, especially colors, matching things, putting them together nicely so that the ensemble works well & looks just right.
So, imagine the same outfit as above but with flip flops.
No way.
Sorry.
There are a ton of little apparently insignificant decisions that go into deciding what to wear. Since that particular Sat. night I felt like wearing this skirt, I had to build my outfit around it. And this pair of shoes (and a purse) were the final touches.
Once again: I totally disagree with the idea, quite common in the US, that if you look elegant you can't be truly comfortable.
I was. I am and I will be.
Plus Aerosoles shoes are quite good.
Which reminds me: first good paycheck and I am off to buy my beloved CAMPER!!!
Genius!

Flip flop time of the year

Real Brazilian sandals. Bought in Brazil. Sao Paulo. Better still: Bom Retiro (for those in the know!) Saudades!

Less real Brazilian sandals. Made for an American company & bought in Chicago.
Black? 2 changes in one: sandals and black, a color I never favored. But this particular model actually makes my feet look (slightly) prettier.

Among the little big Brazil-induced changes the one that interests me now is my being ok with wearing flip flops. I never particularily liked them & not only because my feet are really unattractive: I find flip flops too casual for my taste... but now I appreciate the comfort they provide.
Plus if I put one of my necklaces on, no one will have enough time to look at my feet, so that's fine, too!

Save me from Salvation Army!

Being a shopaholic, like myself, might not only get you broke, but also ...killed.
Ok, ok, I am exaggerating: this particular Salvation Army (far away from the yuppie areas, which meant that the prices were...crazily low - I bought 3 tops, 2 pictured above were 99 cents each!!! How much lower can you get? Brand new & brand names, too!) was inexpensive, so I am not running the risk of being broke from that, but while i was there browsing, I heared one of the customers shouting at the cashier demanding his money back... it got pretty animated there, and someone even called the police.
I love it when instead of VAT we have this kind of ''spicy added value'', fun stories to tell about what we wear, which is exactly the logic behind my little ''educational'' jewelry creations.

Paulo Tiago, Professor Eletronico is for you

Talk apartments?
Paulo Tiago's place is one that I need at least to spend some nights in (no worries - I ain't gonna move in with you, dear!)
Now, since Paulo Tiago has joined us (thank you, BTW!), I wanted to give him a special warm & crazy welcome, my style.
And it gave me a great excuse to finally show the 'world' a fabulous vintage find. From Goiania (but as all the great things, made in Sao Paulo... )
Found by me 2 years ago.

The way people were supposed to learn a language back then.
Amazing.
Too bad I had to throw away the vinyls! But I treasure the pages with some of the most hilarious dialogues (and boy, weren't they many!)

Enjoy!

Attention to detail (but 'feelings' count even more)

Choosing a 'house of your dreams' is very much like getting a man of your dreams.
Or maybe not.
At any rate, you just never know.
Take me for example: I am very picky & have a set of pretty rigid criteria (technical first, emotional second, but they most of the time come first), but in the end....
Heat wave hit Chicago, but I still went out on my house quest. As I was walking down one street, quite beautiful, yes, but a bit too 'suburban America' for my big-city girl taste, I was thinking that it's not me... And yet I went in to see one apartment there and I...fell in love with it.
So you see, you just never know, really.
I am not stressed or confused. It just added a bunch more variables to my non existent formula.
