Night cap, night read

Is 'night cap' mostly a British expression? And more importantly, is it still being used? (even if it's not, people might still drink something to cheer themselves up, if they so desire).
My addiction remains books. Now lots of what I read is about the history of fashion (something I spent the previous 20 some years saying I wasn't interested in) and
jewelry history (something that I couldn't deny I loved).
Of course spending so many hours per day designing and assembling my pieces I have increasingly less time to read, but it's essential. And the only way to do it is by crawling up in bed with a book. Sheets (silk?) and books on paper.
Enough of the stiff chair and the computer screen.
Books are very much alive. And so is black & white photography, like this last one, of a little old lady immortalized by my favorite Andre Kertesz.
Good night & good books to all of us!
